Brigidine School Pupils Fight Off Tough Competition in Public Speaker Awards
Dec. 2: From the Windsor Observer
GIFTED public speakers dazzled crowds and advanced to the next stage of a prestigious national tournament.
The talented trio of Kiera Green, Maleeha Mir and Alycia Lewis - all Brigidine School pupils - fought off tough competition to win the Best Team and Best Speaker awards in the senior category at Tuesday night's Rotary Youth Speaks event.
In the competition, held at Brigidine School, in Kings Road, each group contained a speaker, chairperson and proposer.
The chairperson introduced and managed the presentation, while the speaker delivered the keynote address.
The proposer then closed the presentation and invited thanks for the speaker.
Kiera Green, the group's speaker, spoke movingly about Parkinson's disease, using her great-uncle Trevor as a primary focus.
Maleeha Mir was excellent as the witty chairperson while Alycia Lewis delivered the proposal of thanks with great polish.
The group now advances to the next round in February.
Our young people need the skills of proper communication and public speaking more than ever. Share with them this gift of public speaking training for Christmas.
