He keeps his voice flat and monotone and face expressionless not matter how funny something he says is. This facial and verbal contrast emphasizes the joke and surprises the public speaking audience, resulting in a laugh. At first, most people might find the monotone presentation somewhat boring but that won’t last long. As soon as you tell your first joke, the audience members will be on the edge of their seats the entire public speaking engagement.
