We love webinars. Public speakers and other small business people love doing them and people love watching them. Why? Because they are visually interesting and dynamic. The marriage of an audio presentation and powerpoint presentation brings the live seminar feel to the small screen.
Most of us have seen a webinar or two. They usually start out with good, high-value content and then lead to a pitch for a product or training at the end. Most people know the pitch is coming and put up a wall of sales resistance in their minds. Proper content and clever sales closes help relieve the resistance and open them up to buy.
A 'no pitch' webinar is a bit different. The presenter states up front that there will be no pitch for a product; no selling at all, just good content. At the end of the webinar, the presenter offers the audience a chance to ask questions, leave comments or state their challenges with implementing the lessons that were taught in the webinar. They can do that via a web form that the presenter asks them them to go visit. There, the form will ask for their name, email and phone number, plus a form where they can write their questions or concerns.
Being able to personally chat one-on-one with a prospect can lead to a big sale. There are no distractions of a webinar taking place, no sales resistance. You're 'helping' them with a problem in an email or phone call and then prompting them to work with you while they are captive. This works great with more expensive training such as a mentorship program, where you need the one-on-one interaction between just you and your client. Public Speaking Business: Social Targeting
Social networking sites are where millions of people gather to find friends and even search for information by topics. Based by topic, sites such as Linkedin and Facebook have thousands of groups with members that are there to share and find information important to them. These groups have vast resources available in the form of blog posts, comments and links to an unlimited amount of information on the web.
The purpose of the groups are to be a resource guide to the members and give the members the ability to network with each other via making friends or emailing. This is a great opportunity for you to leave resource links to the members and act as the expert.
You can search Facebook and Linkedin for all the groups they have available directly from the built-in search forms on the sites. Just like a Google search, these site's search functions are powerful tools for finding targeted traffic by keywords. No matter what your target market's interests are, you can use the search functions to find where they are gathered.

Public Speaking Business - Autoresponder Purposes and Strategies
You can use the sequential autoresponders in http://www.kickstartcart.com for the following purposes:
•Free Ecourses
•Paid Ecourses -- Coming soon
•Customer Service
•Reduction of "Buyer's Remorse"
•Customer Upsell
•Reduction of hassle
Let’s focus on the last four items.
Customer Service
Customer service online needs to be better than in a face-to-face transaction. There is no personal interaction involved unless the customer has to call for something or you call them. This makes many customers very nervous.
They are sitting at home wondering if they did the right thing by ordering. In many cases they are wondering if the transaction went through at all. You want them to hear from you right away. You want them to start to feel like "hey this company didn't just disappear with my money."
Buyer's Remorse
A typical problem in both online and off line sales is buyer's remorse, i.e., the customer is thinking, "Gee, I wish I hadn't bought that. I really didn't need it. Maybe I shouldn't have spent that much, etc."
Strategy
Part of the strategy in using sequential autoresponders is to start that feeling in the customer that you didn't just run off to a cyber resort with their money and sip cybermint juleps while they are trying to pay off their credit card.
At the same time you can give them the feeling that purchasing from you was a good deal and that they made the right decision by purchasing and that they do need what they bought and that it was perfectly fine spending what they did . . . in fact it was dirt cheap.
The rest of the strategy has to do with the fact that you would never want to make these follow-up contacts if you had to do it by phone or even by email. You should be too busy searching out new business all the time.

Public Speaking Business Marketing - Mic The Audience!
You may have killed! You may have had them rolling in the aisles! You may have gotten a 3 minute standing ovation! . . . but your tape of this event might stink.
I have seen so many tapes ruined (including my own) because the presenter didn't make sure there was a microphone recording audience reactions. This isn't really a humor technique but it is really important for humorous presenters for two reasons. 1. They can better critique themselves after the event because they can clearly hear what material worked and what didn't work. 2. They can get good demonstration materials or make salable products out of their recordings.
Nothing sounds worse than your funny line delivered and then muffled or non existent audience reaction to it. This is because of the fine noise canceling microphones that many people wear on their lapels. IT'S DESIGNED TO CUT OUT BACKGROUND NOISE!
I guess a really good sound engineer/editor could doctor the tape up with canned laughter, but what a hassle to do a perfect job at this! And what if someone finds out which they will if the addition of laughter isn't flawless. It's much easier to do it right the first time and put a microphone(s) in the audience.
EQUIPMENT
If you are taping yourself, you'll need a portable mixing board (any time you have more than one microphone going into the same device, you'll need a mixing board). You'll also want an omnidirectional microphone that pics up all the laughter and comments people are yelling at you . . . .(well maybe not if they're heckling you :) ) Visit a music store that caters to bands for help picking out your equipment.
If you are being paid to be there, you need to nicely inquire about the A/V and depending on how much clout you have see if you can jockey for the extra microphone(s) in the audience. Even offer to pay for it yourself if it means you'll get a better tape.
This little bit of extra effort will mean a big difference in the quality and usability of your recordings . . . and hey . . .if you bother with all this you better be funny.

Public Speaking Business Marketing - Press Releases
A press release, just like in the old days, let's news organizations know about important things happening in your business: promotions, events, seminars, new books being published, television appearances, etc.
Online press releases give you a big advantage on spreading the news about your speaking business. They have a lot of search engine power and can add greatly to the search results you already get. More than that, news organizations subscribe to many online press release services and are notified of stories that they find of interest.
This could lead to big things. You could be approached for a newspaper or television interview, asked for your opinion on something as part of an article or magazine write-up and drive a ton of new traffic to your website from the links that are included in a press release.
There are free services you can use, but from my experience the paid services have far more reach to the people who matter such as PrWeb.com. It may seem a bit costly at first, but your newsworthy business could reach the eyes and ears of thousands of news agencies, bloggers and website owners literally on the same day its released. Give it a try. I've been very successful with this marketing tactic.

Public Speaking Marketing - Website Links in Youtube Videos
I've talked about how effective making many Youtube videos can be for your speaking business. Showing you speaking on stage, visits with meeting planners, webinar recordings and simple training lessons are just some of the videos that can come up high in Google and Youtube searches, and drive traffic to your website.
But you're wasting time if you're not doing it right. I've seen hundreds of great videos that leave out one critical thing: a clickable link to your website in the video description. On Youtube, there's no place in the video itself to leave a link to your website (you can put the URL in the video), so the description is the only place where viewers can use their mouse to click directly to the website from the video area.
Use the power of online video to drive traffic to your websites. Just don't forget to 'optimize' your titles, tags and especially your descriptions to get the most out of the power.
This is how the top public speakers make more money...

Youtube For Public Speakers: Google Friendly Titles
Have you seen all the videos I have on Youtube just about public speaking?
They bring in leads, traffic and prospects to my speaking business 24/7 that I can turn into loyal customers. The videos are simple 'talking head' style ones that are only about 3 minutes long. I talk about marketing techniques and platform techniques for public speakers, and then I tell them to visit my public speaking membership site AmazingPublicSpeaking.com, where they can sign up to gain a year's access to over 400 training videos for only $97.
I'm sure you understand this marketing concept and how it important it is to your business. But how do I attract people who want to watch public speaking videos as opposed to the rest of the population? I carefully title my Youtube videos with keywords that public speakers are using to search for information.
Check out my channel and look at how I title my videos to be search engine friendly: Youtube.com/antion
I use phrases with the words "Public Speaking" at the beginning of the title, with additional keywords that a public speaker may be searching for at the end of the title:
Public Speaking: Hand Gestures
Public Speaking Course: Stage Movements
Public Speaking: Lecterns
Presentation Skills: Powerpoint
Storytelling Tips
and so on. Some of these videos have been placed on the first page of Google within 30 hours of uploading them on Youtube. I like it when I see that public speakers or anyone trying to market themselves use the power of Youtube. But if no one can find your videos because they are not search engine friendly with the proper titles, it's a huge waste of time.

Public Speaking Business - Kindle For Self Publishing
How can a public speaker get his or her name spread around the world? What would that do for your speaking business?
Publishing a book has always been a good idea, but until now, it has been a complicated and costly endeavor. Kindle has changed all that. And if you think digital publishing is not really 'being published'...
think again.
Ebooks and Kindle are taking the world by storm. There are more digital versions of books being sold on Amazon, iTunes and Barnes and Noble than printed books. You can write, publish and sell a book (or many books) with a very minimal investment. While you are waiting for that major publisher to print and sell your work, your competition has already been selling thousands of digital copies and getting their name and celebrity out there.
The power of digital publishing goes far beyond just name recognition. By putting clickable links in the ebooks, you can drive traffic to your website prompting the sale of even more products and services, or being noticed by more meeting planners. Selling ebooks 24/7 also gives you another stream of income to help offset the weak economy.
If you haven't yet looked into self-publishing, now's the time.

How Public Speakers Can Use Autoresponders
Autoresponders.
Never heard of them? It's ok, many outside of the Internet marketing industry know what they are. If you have ever signed up for a newsletter or free gift on a website, you may have noticed a number of emails that get sent to you, often every week or maybe every couple of days. These emails aren't sent manually, they are automatic email responses triggered by your opting in to the sign-up form.
An opt-in can trigger a series of calculated emails designed to deliver important marketing messages to the prospect. These messages can educate, offer special deals, provide instructions and much more. How can an autoresponder help with your public speaking business?
Your speeches provide valuable content. This content can be used to educate others who can't make it to your presentations. From your website, you can send out autoresponder messages with Youtube videos, ebooks, e-courses, developmental training and anything else that you would typically offer at one of your presentations. As prospects get to know you better, you can start to offer products and services that increase your bottom line and make money beyond your presentations. This in itself can lead to more paid gigs. How many public speakers are doing that?
It's a tough business out there. Make sure you're doing everything you can to rise above the competition. Get an autoresponder system for yourself and see the power of connecting with a global audience... on automatic.

International Speaking Engagements: Equipment Photographs
I've talked about this tip before, but ran into the same situation again this month while doing a public speaking engagement in Morocco.
The primary languages there are Arabic and French. Just arranging for an overhead projector was very difficult. When I arrived as the opening speaker (after having confirmed three times an overhead projector and screen), none was to be found in the room.
The manager of the gigantic ballroom could not speak English and because of tight scheduling of other events, I was not able to be in the room early as I always am. I forgot to bring my equipment photographs which would have gotten the point across to the manager immediately whether he spoke English or not. It really didn't matter though, because the projector he finally brought was so terrible I had to scrap all the overheads. I am ALWAYS prepared for total equipment failure and went on with the program without hesitation.
Tips when speaking in a foreign environment:
1. Have photographs of the equipment you need.
2. Have a backup plan and be ready to use it
3. When you leave your own country start smiling and don't quit until you are locked safely in your bathroom (smile then too if you want to). Never get upset in public. Getting upset will only make things worse for you and your speaking engagement will suffer.
