I know that many of you out there have published books. I have a few myself. Books are excellent calling cards and can quickly increase your worth to a meeting planner and add an additional revenue stream to your online business.
But let's use that same book and its content to your advantage. Break down all the parts, chapters, sections and modules and repurpose them into searchable content for the web. I have taken dozens of chapters of both my "Wake 'Em Up" book and my "Ultimate Guide to Electronic Marketing For Small Business" and published them on many website resources to help draw in high amounts of traffic through Google searches.
They can be published as article content on your own websites, uploaded to article marketing services such as ezinearticles.com, used as blog posts, given away as PDF files for opt-ins, recorded as MP3's or podcasts and broken into smaller ebooks and training.
Repurposing your published book gives you a ton of great content that the search engines love. Most websites I see lack any real searchable content, yet the website owner is proudly selling a major printed book online. Break that book apart and use the content that you've already taken the time to write as a way to attract website traffic and more sales of the book.

Public Speaking: Creating a Commercial
The "Original Commercial" for an imaginary product is always fun. People have fun with the Commercial because they get to think of a product or service that would ease their lives. They then build a short sales presentation around it, usually making it funny.
I remember the lively commercial a single woman gave for what she called a "Creep Detector." The imaginary gadget was no bigger than a computer mouse. When run down the side of a prospective date, it revealed such character traits as "habitual lying," "fear of commitment" "dislike of his mother" and "impatience with children."
Another memorable product was the "Clapper Crapper" . . . a toilet whose seat went up and down with hand commands to accommodate gender differences. One clap up, two claps down. No more marital arguments over who failed to leave the toilet seat properly positioned.
Excerpted from "Get in Bed with Your Audience: And satisfy them every time." by Gary Michael . . .The Talk Doc mailto:talkdoc@ecentral.com
Tom Adds: You can use this technique as an involvement technique as Gary does above or simply make up a funny commercial customized to the group to which you are speaking and deliver it yourself.

What You Need to Know About Self-Publishing
You know that public speaking book you have always wanted to write but never did because you would have to pay the printer to print hundreds more than you need and then store them forever in your garage? I have good news for you. Now with print-on-demand, you can have a few or many books printed at a nominal price. This means you can order just enough to sell from your website, at your book signing, at back-of-the-room sales during your seminars, or for giving away to promote your business.
Each book is printed when you or your client orders it and you only pay for the quantity ordered, whether it is one or 1,000. At Antion & Associates, we're using createspace.com for print-on-demand. It's a free online self-publishing tool that helps you prepare your book for printing.
While compiling and formatting your book takes time, the actual process of uploading your book to createspace is very simple and consists of three basic steps:
* Enter information about your book into the createspace software.
* Upload a.pdf file of the content.
* Upload a.pdf file of the cover.
After you upload the .pdf files, you can order a proof copy for a few dollars and createspace will print it and mail it to you. As soon as you approve the proof copy, createspace will make it available for purchase and even distribute it through Amazon.com and other outlets. When you or a customer orders, createspace will print as few or as many copies as you want. The price of the book covers the production costs and your royalty.
It's a win-win because you have no setup fees and no inventory to store. In addition, Amazon offers a lot of tips to help you self-publish your book through createspace.com.

Public Speaking to Sell Products and Services
I've heard it said that not every public speaker needs to be an author, but every author needs to be a public speaker. The ability to stand up in front of an audience and present your case, train others and be entertaining all for the sake of promoting your products and services is a must for you to be successful. Good public speaking opens up avenues that very few know how to access. As an author, you have to be able to talk about your books in a seminar setting, whether it be a book signing or training event. For most business coaches, public speaking is the main revenue generator, far beyond what most website traffic can do.
That's why it's critical to learn the ropes from a person who's been there. You don't want to learn public speaking from a teacher that doesn't understand the concept of promoting products and services from the stage and selling them at the back of the room. It's a tricky business that's different from just being a paid speaker or a graduate of Toastmasters. You have to connect with the audience in a special way that's unique for every situation.

Public Speaking: Patter Matters
"Patter" AKA "what the magician says" is frequently the way the fun is added to the magic trick.
Let's look at patter for speakers a little more closely. Patter when you aren't using magic could be things you say while someone is participating in a demonstration on stage or it could be while they are coming up to the stage or when an unexpected occurrence happens while you are speaking.
Suppose you were doing some kind of demonstration that required the participants to put paper bags over their heads. You could be cracking one liners like "Don't worry. This bag has been sanitized for your protection." Or, "This bag has been known to improve some people's love lives"
If a participant is walking toward the stage slowly, you could hum the Jeopardy theme or say something like "I think I'll stop by Starbucks and have a triple Frappechino Latte with foam, whip cream and cinnamon while I'm waiting for you to get up here." Of course you would say this in a fun rather than attacking fashion.
When something happens that totally distracts the audience like a police car siren going by the building, polished presenters use a form of patter called "Pre Planned Ad libs" like "Oh, My ride is here" or "I knew I shouldn't have taken my wife's anniversary present as a tax deduction."
Pay attention to the situations you either create on stage or in the audience and to the potential distractions that may occur while you are speaking and create funny patter lines to use during those settings and you'll really add polish to the entertaining parts of your talks.

Public Speaking is the One Thing They Don't Teach You in School
Public Speaking skills.
We're not just talking about giving business talks in the boardroom, but even more communication driven skills such as major presentations for potential clients or pep talks that move the troops to action. If you've ever noticed what kind of individual gets promoted the fastest in most companies, it's the one with the most verbal influence on employees and higher-ups (sometimes called the 'one with the big mouth'.)
Motivation and influential communication skills are very important to the success of your career. But it's the one thing that they don't teach you in school. Only a few people worldwide have the confidence and experience to teach public speaking skill, marrying the two elements of motivation and selling at the same time. Discover the experts and their secrets that can make or break your career at AmazingPublicSpeaking.com.
There you will find hundreds of articles, videos and MP3 recordings in a exclusive membership style setting that you'll have access to 24/7 or whenever you'll need it.

Worst Public Speaking Presentation Ever
It's Ok if you couldn't make it all the way through this video, I couldn't either. It's one more example of how our young people have very little confidence to communicate properly. They'll be misunderstood, miss landing better jobs, be left out of promotions in the jobs they will be able to get, and have weak personal relationships with their friends and spouses.
Confidence in communication leaks over to other things in life. If you can stand in front of strangers and speak your mind, there's no end to what else you're capable of.
Give the gift of confidence to a young person you care about.

Brigidine School Pupils Fight Off Tough Competition in Public Speaker Awards
Dec. 2: From the Windsor Observer
GIFTED public speakers dazzled crowds and advanced to the next stage of a prestigious national tournament.
The talented trio of Kiera Green, Maleeha Mir and Alycia Lewis - all Brigidine School pupils - fought off tough competition to win the Best Team and Best Speaker awards in the senior category at Tuesday night's Rotary Youth Speaks event.
In the competition, held at Brigidine School, in Kings Road, each group contained a speaker, chairperson and proposer.
The chairperson introduced and managed the presentation, while the speaker delivered the keynote address.
The proposer then closed the presentation and invited thanks for the speaker.
Kiera Green, the group's speaker, spoke movingly about Parkinson's disease, using her great-uncle Trevor as a primary focus.
Maleeha Mir was excellent as the witty chairperson while Alycia Lewis delivered the proposal of thanks with great polish.
The group now advances to the next round in February.
Our young people need the skills of proper communication and public speaking more than ever. Share with them this gift of public speaking training for Christmas.
