Public Speaking - Audience Persuasion

Persuasive speaking is the art of using your words to influence an audience.

To be effective at the art of persuasion you have to keep your audience in mind and at the focus of your speech. Each person is in the audience because they want to know "What's in it for me?" As a speaker you have to answer that question and connect with your unique audience to produce positive results.

Understanding and communicating the reason for your speech will help with persuading your audience.

  • Do you want them to buy your products?
  • Do you want them to sign up for your newsletter?
  • Do you want them to attend one of your special events?
If you answered yes to any of those questions you need to master the art of persuasion so you can take your speaking business to the next level. Traditionally, persuasion involves three elements.

Credibility - What are your qualifications? What makes you an expert on your particular subject?

Logic - Use appealing facts, figures, statistics to support your statements.

Emotion - Using a story to connect with your unique audience.

Being able to use these three elements in a speech will greatly increase your persuasive power. Need more resources on creating a great persuasive speech for your speaking business?
